Jupiter 3, an ultra high density satellite operated by EchoStar company Hughes Network Systems, began undergoing over the air testing with ground systems on Nov. 16, following the deployment of its solar array and antennas and the completion of a readiness test by the space systems business of Maxar Technologies, the spacecraft's manufacturer. Hughes said Thursday the satellite will work to increase the company's broadband capacity over North and South America by 500 Gbps, particularly benefiting plans under the HughesNet satellite internet service.

Hypersonics provider X-Bow Systems has closed an interim funding round headed by Lockheed Martin’s venture unit. The shipbuilding division of HII has commenced the production of the U.S. Navy's newest Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, named in honor of former U.S. Senator Thad Cochran. HII said Thursday the initiation of the fabrication of the USS Thad Cochran signals the shipyard's preparedness to progress with construction, with the initial 100 tons of steel already cut.

Artificial intelligence is for augmenting human decisions and intelligence, said Mark Johnson, vice president of U.S. federal technology at IBM. A General Dynamics subsidiary will work to modernize the Medicaid program of Alabama under a $63 million contract awarded by the state's Medicaid Agency. General Dynamics Information Technology will use its cloud computing, data management and cybersecurity capabilities to enhance the information technology applications and infrastructure of Alabama Medicaid programs.

A flight test of the Patriot Advanced Capability - 3 took place on Nov. 16, demonstrating the missile's ability to defend against an air breathing threat with the help of the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor radar. Lockheed Martin said Thursday it conducted the test at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico in partnership with the U.S. Army.
