The U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation has released a draft solicitation for a potential $127 million follow-on contract to maintain a computer-generated system for managing the entire constructive modeling and simulation life cycle. PEO STRI requires software development, integration, testing, engineering releases and maintenance of the One Semi-Automated Forces program, which supports force modernization and transformation modeling and simulation initiatives, according to a notice posted Tuesday on SAM.gov.

SRC, a not-for-profit research and development company, has received a seven-year, $60 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide R&D services for avionics development. The Department of Defense said Wednesday the contractor will develop new and emerging concepts related to the development, integration, assessment, evaluation and demonstration of several technologies focusing on the electric warfare piece of the avionics.

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions and SES have showcased a virtualized and containerized satellite communications network for the U.S. Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command. The demonstration seamlessly supported medium Earth orbit satellite operations using SES’ O3b MEO network and Kratos’ fully software-defined satellite ground OpenSpace platform in a "make-before-break" mode, Kratos said Wednesday.

Tom Lash, CEO of Vibrint, said in a statement published Wednesday the new Vibrint LiFi technology uses light waves instead of radio waves to create ultra-secure wireless data communications networks.

Asset intelligence and cybersecurity company Armis has acquired for $150 million Silk Security, the developer of Silk Platform, which works to provide cyber risk prioritization and remediation. Armis said Wednesday that following the acquisition, Silk Platform will be integrated into its own artificial intelligence-powered vulnerability prioritization and remediation product called Armis Centrix.

Organizations will have to augment their approaches to network traffic monitoring when they implement Transport Layer Security 1.3, according to Scott Aken, the CEO of software company Axellio. Aken explains in an opinion column published Tuesday on Security Magazine that TLS 1.3 "significantly enhances" data encryption but in so doing imposes limits on data stream decryption, making network security monitoring more difficult and potentially obscuring malware and traffic by threat actors.
