Cloudera has been designated as “In Process” by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program. This status recognizes the security of the hybrid data platform, and once it is fully authorized, Cloudera will be available to additional government organizations, the Santa Clara, California-based company said on Wednesday.

Metron and Cellula Robotics will develop long-duration uncrewed underwater vehicle platforms for U.S. defense, offshore energy, marine scientific exploration and subsea telecommunications markets under a strategic partnership agreement. The State Risk and Authorization Management Program, the regional version of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, will require greater accountability from organizations supporting or providing cybersecurity services to the U.S. government, said Ted Cotterill, Indiana's chief privacy officer and general counsel for the Management Performance Hub. Speaking to Bill Sullivan, vice president and general manager of U.S. federal business at Denodo, Cotterill provided an overview of the StateRAMP model implementation in different states as well as private sector cooperation with the program.

IBM has teamed up with NASA to build a suite of transformer architecture-based language models designed to give the scientific and academic community access to vast amounts of scientific knowledge and information. The IBM-NASA models were trained on 60 billion tokens from a collection of astrophysics, earth science, planetary science, heliophysics and biological and physical sciences data.

GE Aerospace intends to invest $650 million this year to upgrade its manufacturing facilities and strengthen its supply chain. The General Electric operating unit said Tuesday that, of that total, $450 million will be allocated for the enhancement of 22 facilities across the U.S., an effort that includes the acquisition of additive manufacturing equipment and other machines and tools that will be used to assemble, test and produce engines for military and commercial aircraft.

The U.S. Air Force has released a draft solicitation for a potential 10-year, $12.5 billion contract for support services to modernize, operate and maintain network infrastructure across all Department of the Air Force bases worldwide. The service branch intends to establish a pool of qualified sources to support the multiple-award Base Infrastructure Modernization indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, according to a presolicitation notice published Thursday.

The federal business of ECS has secured a prime spot on a potential $500 million contract vehicle from the National Institutes of Health to provide professional support services for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health. Under the Strategic Technical ARPA-H Talent Support contract vehicle, ECS said Monday it will provide systems engineering, technical advisory support and other professional services such as financial and program management.
