Stephen Townsend, a retired U.S. Army general and former commander of U.S. Africa Command, has been appointed to the board of directors at Phoenix Defense. Databricks has closed its Series I funding after receiving new investments from AT&T and other strategic partners, placing the company at a $43 billion post-money valuation. The Bath Iron Works subsidiary of defense company General Dynamics held an event on Nov. 8 marking the beginning of fabrication of USS John E. Kilmer. The U.S. Air Force's B-21 Raider, built by Northrop Grumman, has taken its first flight at Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, where it has been under development as the sixth-generation nuclear-capable stealth bomber. The Air Force plans to order 100 B-21 bomber aircraft with long-range and mid-air refueling capabilities to bring conventional and nuclear weapons to U.S. forces worldwide.
