Raytheon Technologies' intelligence and space business has worked with NASA to develop a cloud-based platform meant to help the agency distribute and archive data from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich climate monitoring satellite. “The data storage challenge becomes that much greater with the petabytes upon petabytes of data that satellites generate every day," said David Appel, vice president of defense and civil solutions at Raytheon Intelligence and Space.

Three Companies to Provide Robotic Grapple Fixtures for NASA Testing

NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland has selected Altius Space Machines, Honeybee Robotics and Orbit Fab to provide robotic grapple fixtures for a testing initiative slated to begin in the spring and summer of 2021. Engineers at NASA's Exploration and In-Space Services projects division will evaluate the companies' grapple fixtures using robotics facilities at Goddard under space act agreements.

NASA Selects Thales-Leonardo JV for Spacecraft Tech Procurement Contract Vehicle’s On-Ramp

France- and Italy-based businesses of Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo, have landed spots on a potential $6 billion NASA contract vehicle covering spacecraft systems and support services through an on-ramp solicitation process. The agency issued the first RAPID IV on-ramp award nearly eight months after its original selection of five aerospace companies to participate in the program.
