Viasat Moves to Acquire RigNet for $222M to Diversify Portfolio

Viasat has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire RigNet, a provider of ultra-secure, intelligent networking solutions and specialized applications. Viasat will purchase the company in an all-stock transaction worth approximately $222 million. “With the acquisition of RigNet, we are accelerating the diversification of our connectivity portfolio and establishing a global foundation for expansion of our remote enterprise service offerings,” said Rick Baldridge, Viasat's president and CEO.

AT&T Secures $311M NOAA Task Order to Modernize Network; Chris Smith Quoted

AT&T has been awarded a ten-year, $311 million task order from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to deliver modern networking capabilities and advanced technologies. NASA Seeks Feedback on Draft Requirements for Advanced Enterprise Global IT Solutions Contract

NASA has asked industry for comments on its proposed requirements as it develops a solicitation for the acquisition of telecommunications systems and services in support of the mission of the agency’s office of the chief information officer. A request for information posted Tuesday says NASA is developing a solicitation for the Advanced Enterprise Global Information Technology Solutions contract, which seeks to increase the use of network automation and automated segmentation, improve mission management and achieve cost-effective and flexible communications services.
