Microsoft has teamed up with Hewlett Packard Enterprise to connect its Azure cloud to the International Space Station through HPE’s Spaceborne Computer-2. SBC-2 is set to fly aboard Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus spacecraft as part of Northrop’s 15th commercial resupply mission to the orbiting laboratory on Feb. 20, and will bring artificial intelligence, cloud connectivity and edge computing capabilities to the ISS.

Northrop’s Cygnus to Kick Off ‘SharkSat’ Tech Demo Upon Departure From ISS

Northrop Grumman's Cygnus spacecraft is scheduled to depart the International Space Station and host a two-week demonstration of the SharkSat payload once it leaves the ISS. SharkSat is intended to test and demonstrate multiprocessor systems, digital receivers, integrated circuits and other electronic components to facilitate the development of a Ka-band software defined radio that could have potential applications in 5G, space-to-ground and space-to-space communications.

Northrop Wraps up HALO Preliminary Design Review; Steve Krein Quoted

Northrop Grumman has completed the initial preliminary design review (PDR) for the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO), the company reported on Wednesday. The module will support NASA’s Lunar Gateway by working as a crew habitat and docking hub for vehicles. “Maturing HALO through its preliminary design marks a major milestone in the module’s production,” said Steve Krein, vice president of civil and commercial satellites at Northrop Grumman.
