DOE Selects Siemens for Microgrid Energy Mgmt System R&D Project

Siemens' U.S. research and development business unit has received a $6.4M contract to help the Department of Energy build a system to manage distributed energy resources. Princeton, N.J.-based Siemens Corporate Technology aims to create an energy management system that will use tools designed to increase the resilience of microgrids and facilitate autonomous power restoration as part of the Autonomous and Resilient Operation of Energy systems with RenewaAbles or AURORA project.

ExxonMobil, DOE National Labs Team Up on Lower-Emissions Tech R&D Effort

The Department of Energy and ExxonMobil have signed a 10-year agreement to research and develop technologies designed to reduce emissions from petrochemicals and fossil fuels production. DOE said Wednesday ExxonMobil will invest up to $100M over a decade in the department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory and National Energy Technology Laboratory to advance the development of platforms meant to enhance energy efficiency and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
