Textron’s Bell Subsidiary Opens Wichita Facility to Support Aerospace Programs

Bell has opened an office in Wichita, Kan., that will house the Textron subsidiary's corporate, manufacturing, supply chain and engineering functions and programs that support aerospace customers. The new facility is part of an investment to grow Bell operations after the U.S. Army selected the aircraft manufacturer to participate in two of the service branch's modernization programs, Textron said Thursday.

Lockheed, University Partner for SmallSat Launch Initiative

Lockheed Martin has partnered with the University of Southern California to launch student-made CubeSat small satellites, SpaceNews reported Tuesday. Students from the university will produce the CubeSats that will undergo integration with a payload built on Lockheed's SmartSat software-defined architecture. SmartSat allows satellite operators to conduct in-orbit mission shifts.

ASTRA Selected for Space Force’s Cloud Characterization Tech Project

The U.S. Space Force has tasked Atmosphere and Space Technology Research Associates to build and test a military-grade prototype technology intended to characterize Earth's clouds. ASTRA said Tuesday it will collaborate with Lockheed Martin, Atmospheric and Environmental Research, Pumpkin and Atmospheric and Environmental Research to develop the cloud characterization system.

Aerojet Rocketdyne Finishes Engine Production for NASA’s Crewed Flight Mission; Eileen Drake Quoted

Aerojet Rocketdyne has fulfilled its task to produce hardware necessary for the propulsion of the rocket that would send a crewed Orion spacecraft around the moon as part of NASA's second Artemis mission. The company said Monday it completed the RL10 and RS-25 engines for the Space Launch System in support of Artemis II, the second integrated SLS-Orion flight and the first lunar flyby with crew.
