The National Institute of Standards and Technology has found during a study that a satellite time and location service developed by Satelles could serve as a source of timing data, even in deep indoor places that global navigation satellite systems cannot reach. NIST presented data from its performance review of Satelles' STL offering at the Workshop on Synchronization and Timing Systems hosted by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions.

NIST seeks cybersecurity research support

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is looking for potential sources of research and development services to help inform the NIST Information Technology Laboratory's cybersecurity and information security efforts. NIST said in a notice posted Thursday that it plans to issue an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to support the ITL Computer Security Division's work establishing standards, practices and tools for ensuring the security of U.S. systems.

Perspecta, NextgenID Partner to Develop Remote Identity Verification Platform; Jeff Bohling Quoted

Perspecta has entered into a collaboration agreement with NextgenID to develop an identity proofing solution to remotely assess and verify the identity of individuals who apply for credentials to gain physical and network access to government facilities, Perspecta reported on Tuesday. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) updated the SP800-63A standard to enable the use of remote identity proofing for federal agencies.
