David Berteau, president and CEO of the Professional Services Council, told Federal News Network in an interview posted Wednesday about the potential benefits of extending section 3610 through the end of September in the latest stimulus bill to federal contractors amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Section 3610 “basically authorizes programs across the government, civilian agencies, the intelligence community and the Defense Department to reimburse contractors for costs they incur, keeping skilled personnel and key workers on the payroll when they can either access the facility due to some restrictions, Covid-19, etc, or do the work remotely,“ said Berteau, a two-time Wash100 awardee.

Nutanix Study: Majority of Global Public Sector, US Federal Government Leaders Bullish on Hybrid Cloud

A new Nutanix study has found that 82 percent of information technology leaders in the global public sector and 87 percent of respondents in the U.S. federal government cited hybrid cloud as the ideal IT operating model. The third annual Enterprise Cloud Index Report showed that IT leaders from the U.S. federal government intend to increase that to about 74 percent penetration within five years.

Cisco Report: Nearly 80% of Security Professionals Observe Positive Impact of Privacy Laws

More than 130 countries have privacy laws in place and a new Cisco report has found that 79 percent of security professionals said they believe these laws meant to hold organizations and governments accountable for their data management have had a positive impact. Cisco surveyed more than 4,400 security professionals from 25 countries in summer 2020 for the Data Privacy Benchmark Study and found that 93 percent of organizations said their privacy teams played a key role in helping them respond to COVID-19 pandemic-related challenges, including the shift to telework and implementation of controls on the use and access of shared personal information.
