DoD Announces Data Strategy to Advance Joint Warfighting; Dave Spirk Quoted

The Department of Defense (DoD) has announced a new data strategy, intended to drive the defense department to more effectively use data. Dave Spirk, the recently appointed chief data officer (CDO) for DoD, said that the strategy will support a “joint warfighting” approach to data collection, management and use. Spirk was appointed to the role in June 2020.

USF Institute to Help SOCOM Develop Tech Under Potential $85M IDIQ

The University of South Florida's Institute of Applied Engineering has received a five-year, $85M contract to perform applied research and develop advanced technology for U.S. Special Operations Command. IAE and SOCOM will collaborate in efforts to build, test, evaluate and demonstrate hardware and software platforms, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
