CAE-Pinnacle JV to Update Army Watercraft Training Systems

A joint venture between CAE USA and Pinaccle Solutions has received a delivery order to update a suite of systems used to train U.S. Army personnel in watercraft operations. Xebec Government Services will refresh expeditionary fast transport, vessel defense and full mission bridge simulator configurations in the service branch's Maritime Integrated Training System, CAE said Tuesday.

Army Exercises Option on AeroVironment Loitering Munition Contract

AeroVironment will supply additional tactical missile systems to the U.S. Army and a foreign military sales customer under a two-year, $45 million contract. The exercised option is for the Switchblade 300 deployable loitering munitions, designed to engage targets beyond the line of sight, and the award is part of the potential $146 million Lethal Miniature Aerial Missile Systems contract announced in May 2020, AeroVironment said Tuesday.

Army Posts Sources Sought Notice for Anti-Tank Mine Prototypes

The U.S. Army’s Project Manager Close Combat Systems (PM CCS) announced on April 12 it is seeking companies capable of developing prototypes of new Terrain Shaping Obstacle, or TSO, Top Attack. According to its sources sought notice, the prototype mines must have a remote control feature and top attack capabilities that are effective against tanks. Interested companies have until May 14 to respond to the solicitation.

Industry teams led by BAE Systems and General Dynamics have submitted bids to the U.S. Army for a competitive program to replace the branch's Bradley infantry fighting vehicle platform. The two companies separately confirmed plans to join the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle competition nearly six months after Rheinmetall's U.S. subsidiary unveiled its own team that will pursue the OMFV program.

Booz Allen Hamilton and augmented reality company Taqtile have partnered to demonstrate how 5G-powered AR technology can support military base operations as part of a $600 million Department of Defense experimentation and testing program. Taqtile said Wednesday it will provide the Manifest platform to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state for a demonstration of the technology as potential digital storage for maintenance and repair data at the installation.
