BoeingLogo1 EbizBoeing has developed a digital waveform generator with the intent to offer the technology to the U.S. Air Force for use on the next set of Global Positioning System III satellites.

The company tested its platform’s ability to generate digitally modulated GPS signals in multiple code combinations during a recent demonstration, Boeing said Monday.

“Our investment in GPS digital payload technology builds on a track record of more than 40 other satellites launched with digital payloads and expands our commitment to making the U.S. GPS constellation the best that it can be, not just today, but 20 years from now,” said Dan Hart, vice president of government space systems at Boeing.

The Air Force is eyeing new contractors to build GPS III satellites equipped with a modern navigation payload.

Boeing says it manufactured 12 GPS IIF satellites for the military service.
