Raytheon to Update Air Force's F-16 Mission Computer System - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Air Force has chosen Raytheon to develop and manufacture a modular mission computer system for the military branch’s fleet of F-16 fighter jets.

Raytheon said Friday it will update current F-16 computers to include multicore processing, cybersecurity, high-speed computing and data networking functions.

Josh Cobbs, program manager of electronic warfare systems at Raytheon’s space and airborne systems unit, said the company’s MMC technology is designed to process information faster and help pilots hit targets with aircraft weapons.

The company added the new system can also serve as the foundation for future updates to F-16 sensors and weapon systems.
