Bell and Boeing seek to boost the mission readiness rate of the V-22 Osprey military transport aircraft by 10 percent to 12 percent through structural updates to the nacelle and changes to wiring types, Rotor & Wing International reported Wednesday.

“We think the wiring improvements will be huge,” Chris Gehler, vice president of the V-22 program at Bell and deputy program director for the V-22 Bell-Boeing joint venture, said at the Paris Air Show.

Gehler noted that the two companies see an opportunity to team up with Air Force Special Operations Command and Naval Air Command to enhance the aircraft's readiness quickly.

The report said Boeing and Bell intend to have the first nacelle improvement kit ready for the common configuration readiness and modernization by the first quarter of calendar year 2021.
