AT&T and the Kansas 911 Coordinating Council have partnered to implement a cloud-based situational awareness tool that includes RapidDeploy's dispatch system.

RapidDeploy's Nimbus platform is designed to provide first responders with tools, media and data that support location accuracy, AT&T said Wednesday.

Kansas 911 contact centers will access Nimbus via the AT&T NetBond cloud network, and deployed first responders may connect to the dispatch system via FirstNet, a nationwide public safety network.

“Working with RapidDeploy, we're helping unify critical 911 functions to boost speed, security and reliability between 911 call takers, dispatchers and first responders,“ said Stacy Schwartz, vice president for public safety and FirstNet at AT&T.

Steve Raucher, CEO at RapidDeploy, said Kansas-based 911 centers will receive boosted situational awareness and interoperability with the adoption of Nimbus.

The council also created an information dataset to support Nimbus' mapping features. The dataset provides local, regional and statewide mapping information.
