Government contractors and cybersecurity professionals discussed the challenge of simplifying federal agencies' efforts to protect their information technology infrastructure from cyber attacks during the RSA Public Sector conference held Monday in San Francisco, CyberScoop reported TuesdaySteve Harris, senior vice president and general manager of Dell EMC's federal business, told the publication on the sidelines of the conference about the complexity and issues posed by security systems in an IT infrastructure to agency employees.He discussed an approach that agencies can implement to streamline their cybersecurity efforts.


Dell EMC has revamped its federal channel partner program by reducing the number of distributors to three companies in an effort to address complexity when offering technology platforms and services to federal market clients, CRN reported MondayCarahsoft, Arrow and Ingram Micro are the three distributors included in the new Dell EMC Federal Partner program, which includes approximately 3K platform providers.


The General Services Administration and Dell EMC have reached a governmentwide enterprise agreement to facilitate the procurement of the company's virtual computing environment platforms to help federal agencies advance data center modernization. The agreement allows federal, local, state and tribal government agencies to place an order for Dell EMC's VxRail products at tiered discounts through Carahsoft Technology's spot on GSA's IT Schedule 70 contract, the agency said Thursday.


Steve Harris, senior vice president and general manager of Dell EMC's federal business, told MeriTalk in an interview published Monday that artificial intelligence, internet of things and software-defined infrastructure are some of the emerging trends he sees in the federal information technology market. Harris discussed the importance of IT infrastructure modernization amid the presence of such tech capabilities.


Prioritizing virtualization, data portability and transparency in server utilization can help federal agencies meet the requirements of the White House's data center consolidation initiative, Cameron Chehreh, chief technology officer and vice president of presales engineering at Dell EMC's federal business, wrote in an opinion piece for Nextgov published Thursday.
