A joint venture between Fluor and BWX Technologies will continue to provide environmental management services at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Ohio under a potential $690 million contract extension awarded by the Department of Energy. "We believe that BWXT’s footprint at seven sites supporting the DOE’s Environmental Management mission demonstrates the breadth and depth of our company’s waste management, environmental remediation and site clean-up capabilities,” said Ken Camplin, president of BWXT’s nuclear services group.

The Department of Energy has cleared a funding vehicle worth potentially $1.355B for a public power consortium-led project that includes construction of a small modular reactor plant by NuScale Power, which Fluor holds a majority stake in. Fluor said Monday it plans to support Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems and NuScale in establishing a clean-energy SMR system through UAMPS' Carbon Free Power Project.
